Tivoli Audio Model One AM / FM Table Radio, Classic / WalnutI was afraid I wouldn't find a simple radio that had good sound but this baby has it. I think it sounds as good as my Bose Wave table radio. It is good looking, has good reception and small.
The Bose wave radio is so much better in every way and is made in USA.
Looks nice.:)Oh, the Model One FM was OK, but not as good as the PAL. Those are great. My father in law uses his occasionally. The PAL battery is not too hot, but the sound is great. So I gave mine away (along with the AM antenna) as it was too annoying. The AM reception stinks. No luck.
The PAL AM is fine. One for my inlaws and one for me. Not the Model One radio. :) I had thought the Model One would be as good as the PAL.
I have the Tivoli PAL and Songbook. That did not help. I live in the Seattle area, not "way out there". I felt better knowing somebody else may like having it. Any other radio was fine. But the PAL is slick, but those batteries just don't last. So I bought the Tivoli Model One radio. I should have bought him the Songbook or the Sangean PR-D5P Portable Radio (real happy with that and it has RDS).
Would not work well in our kitchen. I emailed Tivoli and they recommended the AM antenna. I would get that instead of a Tivoli next time. Oh well.
Unfortunately I am now out of warranty so this thing will be chucked into the garbage. Luckily I was still under warranty so I sent it back to Tivoli and they sent me a replacement.
I think I paid $149. I'm an audiophile (have several thousand dollars worth of hi-fi gear) and thought the sound quality was decent for what it was.
I bought this radio from Target a few years ago as I liked the classic looks. The signal, whether it was coming from the tuner or the ipod would cut out.
I only wanted this radio for my kitchen mainly to hook my ipod into for background music. Towards the end of the first year of use it began to fail.
A little over a year later, this unit began to fail for the same reason. Too bad as I really enjoyed this unit when it worked.
Love the austere look of the radio, and for a small, single-speaker system the sound is outstanding.
